Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at admin@packagehawk.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

It depends on what capabilities you're looking for. PackageHawk can absolutely support multiple employees logging in under the same user account, but information and settings like who delivered a package or column view settings are user specific. Also, with one user, anyone in the organization can access admin settings which includes your organization setup and billing portal. For this reason, we recommend at least 2. A larger organization may want an account for each department that handles packages, or they may want each individual to have a login.

  • A stable internet connection (there is not currently an offline version of PackageHawk, but that's coming in the next update).
  • A modern, up-to-date web browser. We recommend the latest version of Google Chrome.
  • Device: Any desktop, laptop, or modern tablet capable of running a modern browser will work with PackageHawk. For a smooth user experience, we recommend a device with at least 4GB of RAM.

Probably. We've run PackageHawk on several corporate internal servers with no issues, and for organizations with access to their firewall settings, if PackageHawk is blocked, you can easily let it through by trusting the domain. However, large corporate hotel servers that capture private guest information and have highly customized firewalls (Hilton, Marriott) will probably not let the app through the firewall. If you work in these hotels (like we do) then you know how restrictive these servers are (rightfully so). We get around this by purchasing tablets and running them on a Wi-Fi network not connected to the corporate server. You can also use your phone. You can easily find a tablet that meets the system requirements for PackageHawk in the $50 range.

Absolutely! PackageHawk uses industry standard SSL/TTL certification and Row-Level Security in your database. Information sent to the app cannot be viewed or modified by anyone else, and no one can see a single row of your database if they are not an authorized user of your organization.

Connect your scanner to your device and use the scanner's app or the settings card that came with your scanner to set the scanner to basic keyboard mode with an enter press (most scanners will add an enter press by default in basic keyboard mode).

You get what you pay for. We have a $25 off brand scanner with a wireless USB for our receiving computer that's a cheap workhorse. But it doesn't handle beat up labels very well and the range isn't great. We also have a $250 Socket Bluetooth scanner that connects to our tablets that never misses a beat. It just depends on your budget and your needs, but if you go too cheap, you're going to be typing in a lot of tracking numbers....

The format has to be in CSV. Excel will always try to get you to convert it. but leave the format in CSV. If you've already converted it to an excel file, simply save it as a .csv. Also, make sure the document that you're trying to import is closed.

Some email providers are faster than others. We've found that Outlook accounts will deliver almost instantly while gmail accounts can take up to 5 minutes. If you still aren't getting emails, check your junk email folder. Add alerts.packagehawk.com to your trusted sender domains.

PackageHawk consolidates all of the package details in a multiple package delivery into 1 message (so someone with 14 packages doesn't get 14 emails). The code to do that is dependent on too many variables for an average user to correctly set it up, so we give you a generic message that still conveys all of the company branding and information on every package.

Custom event discounts are applied only if EVERY package selected is assigned to the event that is configured with the discount. If you have packages that are not assigned to the event, simply edit the package and assign it to the event.

You need the last 4 digits of the tracking number. It's the only variable that the app will search in new packages because it is the only variable that will always be unique to the package you are anticipating.
